Enjoy a marvelous escapade to Istanbul
Istanbul, known in the past as Byzantium or Constantinople, nowadays the city of Istanbul is the largest one in Turkey. It is the financial, economic and cultural centre of the country, thus representing an alpha world city, an important node point in the global economic system. It was also named the European Capital of Culture in 2010, the European Capital of Sports for 2012 and part of the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985. With an estimated population between 12 and 15 million people, it is one of the biggest cities in Europe and in the world. The numbers of approximately 400,000 tourist shoppers that come here each day make the city even more crowded than it already is.

Having an impressive history, the city of Istanbul offers many great historic and religious sites to visit. On my trip to the Turkish city I’ve stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Istanbul because the position of the lodge allowed me to move easily throughout the city. Around Sultanahmet Square there are many ancient monuments dating back from the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods, like Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet Mosque and Basilica Cistern. In order to understand and to better observe the lives of locals, you can also visit Eyüp, the city’s holiest Islam shrine. In what concerns the religious significance, the Galata Whirling Dervish Hall and the Church of Saint Savior in Chora are also worth visiting. But the city has much more to offer than historic and religious attractions. The New Istanbul is filled with skyscrapers, mostly in Levent and Maslak, but also with 20th century neo-classical and Art Nouveau buildings. For picturesque sights that offer the view of the highest hills of the city, go to Çamlıca Hill if you want to have a better look at them. Prior to leaving on your trip, make sure that you make a reservation because and you’ll certainly come across a cheap hotel in Istanbul that is worth the money.

Be sure to do hamams, smoke the nargile and also take the famous Bosphorus cruise with a ferry cruising from Andaolu Kavagi to the Black Sea with various stops to the Yoros Kalesi Castle and in the village of Eminonu. Also remember to purchase souvenirs form the famous bazaars filled with an oriental ambiance. Before leaving to Turkey to do all these things though, be sure you make a reservation at an Istanbul hotel. Another luxurious hotel in Istanbul is Swissotel the Bosphorus. Located on a hilltop in the centre of the city, this hotel offers accommodation in 497 exquisite rooms which all have an incredible view of the Bosphorus. If you are looking something in the historical peninsula, then try another luxurious hotel in Istanbul, the Crowne Plaza. The attractions of the city are just a few minutes away from this Istanbul hotel which recommends to every tourist who wants to spend there a marvelous time one of its 16 five star suits.
